THE WORK
To celebrate our first anniversary, throughout September we screen four movies created by Ryan Trecartin for the 55th Venice Biennale: CENTER JENNY, Item Falls, Junior War and Comma Boat (courtesy of the artist and Regen Projects Los Angeles/Andrea Rosen Gallery New York). Trecartin’s movies have been described as “an audio-visual ballistics test” (ArtReview), where a cast of actors and long-time collaborators perform largely improvisational scenes in staged sets that feel as extemporized as the dialogue.

THE ARTIST
Described by critic Peter Schjeldahl as "the most consequential artist to have emerged since the nineteen-eighties", Ryan Trecartin (b. 1981 in Webster, Texas) lives and works in Los Angeles. He studied at Rhode Island School of Design and since 2000 has collaborated with artist Lizzie Fitch. Trecartin is represented through Regen Projects Los Angeles and Andrea Rosen Gallery New York.
